Describing the beauty of Podere Salicotto is a daunting task, because we are neither writers nor poets. What we know well are the emotions that this fantastic Tuscan territory gives us every day. We are ready to share it with those of you who want to spend a few days in one of the most fascinating parts of Italy.
Charm, silence, colors, scents, art, culture, wildlife with deer, badgers, birds, hedgehogs, foxes and wild boars; sunsets lighting up old bricks and breathtaking starry skies. A unique show that takes place every day.
We discovered Podere Salicotto on a late summer afternoon 13 years ago, and - to quote a line from John Belushi in ‘Blues Brothers’: “We saw the light": It was the perfect place to realize the dream of a lifetime, to open our small, cosy Bed and Breakfast. We decided to put our roots here and open our home to travelers from all over the world.
We are in the heart of the Crete Senesi, 27km (17 miles) south of Siena, 2km (1 mile) from Buonconvento, a small medieval town with a train station that connects you to the North (Florence, Milan) or the South (Rome, Napoli). A very strategic position.
Hospitality is our philosophy and way of life, made of acts of kindness. Meeting our guests is a mutually enriching experience.
The products we serve for breakfast come from small, local producers: pecorino, ricotta still warm, Tuscan ham, homemade bread, cakes and fragrant biscuits, organic jams and local honey… Every morning - for those of you who decide to spend some time at Podere Salicotto - it will be a slow and gentle awakening. Breakfast is served in our garden, under the pergola, from 9:00 am to 10.30am, every day. Guests have access to a fridge for that all essential drink at sunset and a lounge to read in peace.
Welcome to Podere Salicotto, a real special place. PS. Warning: it can be addictive!
